Attempted burglary |
||
Dear residents
On 7th September there was an attempt to gain access to a home on FOXLYDIATE CRESENT via a kitchen window. The window was damaged but access was not made to the property. Also a shed had been opened but no items had been taken.
Please stay vigilant and report any suspicous via 101 or online reporting.
Here are some tips to keep your home safe: 🔒 Secure Entry PointsLock all doors and windows — even when you're at home or just stepping out briefly. Upgrade locks to British Standard-approved models, especially on older doors and windows. Install a peephole and door chain on your front door for added security. 💡 Use Lighting WiselyExterior motion-sensor lights can deter burglars by exposing them. Leave a light on indoors when you're out, or use timer switches to simulate occupancy. 📹 Surveillance & AlarmsInstall a burglar alarm — even a visible dummy alarm can be a deterrent. Use CCTV or smart doorbells to monitor activity and record evidence. 🧳 Protect ValuablesStore valuables in a safe that’s bolted to the floor or wall. Avoid leaving packaging for expensive items (like TVs or laptops) outside — it signals what’s inside. 🌳 Outdoor SecurityKeep hedges and bushes trimmed to eliminate hiding spots. Secure sheds and garages — they often contain tools that burglars can use to break in. Mark property with UV pens or dot peen marking to help police identify stolen items. 🚪 Be Mindful of Distraction BurglariesDon’t let unknown callers into your home without verifying their identity. Use a door chain or intercom to speak to visitors before opening the door. Kind regards | ||
